FAQ

Is the app really free? Any subscriptions or in-app purchases?

Yes, completely free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads and no paywalls — every module (Scale, Framework, Nebula, Journey, Archive) and every simulator is included.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Universe Atlas is fully offline: all plates, catalogs and science content ship inside the app, and the app makes no network requests at all. It works in airplane mode.

What does “Erase all data” delete?

It clears the content you created — observation logs, notes, saved blueprints, nebula designs, journeys and bookmarks — and resets the distance unit to light-years. It keeps your chosen display language. Everything lives only on your device; deleting the app also removes it.

How do I change the language?

By default the app follows your iPhone's system language (10 languages supported). You can also override it per-app in Archive → Settings → Language; the change applies immediately, without a restart.

“Tonight” says a target is prime, but my sky looks different. Why?

The visibility ranking is a simplified on-device model (altitude at 22:00 local, apparent magnitude, moon phase) for the hemisphere and date you select. Light pollution, weather and local horizon are not modeled — treat it as a planning aid for a look outside, not an observational guarantee.

Are the simulators scientifically exact?

They are educational models: rotation curves illustrate the dark-matter effect, the relativistic flight readouts use special-relativity formulas (no acceleration phase, no gravity), and the cosmic timeline is logarithmic by design. They are meant to build intuition, not for research, navigation or any safety-critical use.

Are the plates real photographs?

No — the deep-sky plates are original illustrative artwork in a museum-plate style. Each annotated plate says so in-app. Real observational figures (spans, counts, magnitudes) are given in the text and key-figures rows.

Where is your privacy policy?
